Rules differ between Queensland and New South Wales and we do not give legal advice. What we allow is set out above: over 18s, own drinks, cans or plastic, nothing opened while the vehicle is moving, and no alcohol at all on a school formal.

Yes: Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Byron Bay, Lennox Head, Ballina and Lismore. Between October and April, New South Wales runs on daylight saving and Queensland does not, so every cross border booking is confirmed in one stated time zone.

Gold Coast Airport, yes, for a group in one vehicle. Brisbane Airport is about 73 minutes each way, so it is quoted as a block of hours rather than as a transfer, and two people with suitcases are better served by a shuttle.
